The 19th Edition

Five days in Kraków. The composers behind some of the most talked-about television of the past decade live on the biggest stage in Poland. We go backstage at the 19th edition of the Krakow Film Music Festival.



The International TV Series Gala took place on Saturday 16 May at Tauron Arena Kraków, conducted by Dirk Brossé with the Beethoven Academy Orchestra, the Pro Musica Mundi Choir, and the Boys' and Girls' Choirs of the Kraków Philharmonic. Antonio Sánchez performed live on stage, playing his score for The Studio on solo percussion. Jeff Russo and Brian Tyler conducted their own work. Cristobal Tapia de Veer, whose scores for The White Lotus and The Third Day were performed on the night, was in the audience alongside James Newton Howard, Łukasz Targosz, Wojtek Urbański, Bartosz Chajdecki, Aaron May, and David Ridley.

The full programme spanned Dynasty (Bill Conti), Bridgerton (Kris Bowers), The Penguin (Mick Giacchino), Emily in Paris (James Newton Howard), Spy/Master (Łukasz Targosz), The Studio (Antonio Sánchez), Women's Hell (Wojtek Urbański), The Day of the Jackal and Dune: Prophecy (Volker Bertelmann), Yellowstone and Are We Dreaming (Brian Tyler), The Third Day and The White Lotus (Cristobal Tapia de Veer), Ripley and Alien: Earth (Jeff Russo), Severance (Theodore Shapiro), Langer Ludwig (Bartosz Chajdecki), a Star Wars Universe Suite featuring works by Ludwig Göransson, John Williams, Mick Giacchino, Michael Abels, Nicholas Britell, and Kevin Kiner, and The Acolyte (Michael Abels). Polish composers were represented across the programme, with music from Infamy (Łukasz Targosz and Wojtek Urbański) also featured on the night. Aaron May and David Ridley, composers of the Adolescence score, were present at the Gala; their track 'Fragile' was performed by the Boys' and Girls' Choirs of the Kraków Philharmonic.

The soloists across the evening included Justyna Święs, Katarzyna Bogusz, and Ania Karwan on vocals, Kamila Dutkowska as soprano soloist, Marcin Masecki on piano and vocals, Wojtek Mazolewski on double bass and vocals, Stanisław Słowiński on violin, Sara Andon on flute, Alan Turonek on trumpet, Józef Rusinowski on piano and percussion, Krzysztof Baranowski on banjo, Jacek Tarkowski on piano, and Weronika Byrska on harp.
